Jessica Reyez, better known by her stage name Jessie Reyez, was born on June 12, 1991, in Toronto, Canada, to Colombian parents. She quickly took up the guitar and then hip-hop dance, and decided to leave Canada for Florida, where a job as a waitress awaited her, along with the dream of a career in music—a dream she pursued by continuing to write and sing, while also participating in the Toronto Remix Project, which supports the development of young artists.
