Gerardo Luigi Colonna (1904–1986), known as Jerry Colonna, was an American jazz
and novelty trombonist, actor, and comedian from Boston. He began his career in
the late 1920s with Joe Herlihy's Orchestra before joining the CBS house
orchestra and the Columbia Symphony Orchestra in the 1930s. Colonna achieved
national fame as a sidekick to Bob Hope in popular radio programs and films. His
musical output included the albums Music? for Screaming!!! (1954) and He Sings
and Swings. Colonna’s filmography includes the Hope-Crosby features Road to
Singapore (1940) and Road to Rio (1947)....
