Jeffrey Skidmore is an English conductor and artistic director born on February
27, 1951, in Birmingham. He founded the ensemble Ex Cathedra in 1969 while
attending school. Skidmore studied music at Magdalen College, Oxford, under
David Wulstan and Bernard Rose. He taught music at John Willmott School in
Sutton Coldfield. Skidmore collaborated with ensembles including the BBC Singers
and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He prepared performing editions
of works by composers such as Giovanni Animuccia, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, and
