Jascha Nemtsov
Jascha Nemtsov, born in Magadan, Soviet Union, in 1963, is a Russian-German
pianist and musicologist. The son of a Gulag survivor, he grew up in Leningrad
from 1965, graduating with a Gold Medal from the Special Music School and
earning his degree with distinction from the Leningrad State Conservatory in
1986. He relocated to Germany in 1992, establishing an international concert
career centered on 20th-century Russian and Jewish art music, particularly the
works of Dmitri Shostakovich, Mieczysław Weinberg, and suppressed composers of
