Jane Getz, born September 12, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, is an American
jazz pianist and studio musician. A musical prodigy, she switched from classical
to jazz at the age of nine. At fifteen, Getz left high school and moved to New
York City, quickly performing with Pony Poindexter. During the 1960s, she
collaborated with jazz greats including Charles Mingus, Rahsaan Roland Kirk,
Charles Lloyd, and Pharoah Sanders, and also performed with Stan Getz (to whom
