Jah Levi
Jah Levi, born in 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American record
producer and multi-instrumentalist songwriter, bandleader, luthier, and
archivist of folk and world music. He received formal training in
ethnomusicology at Bard College at Simon's Rock and a master’s in luthiery from
the Roberto‑Venn School while studying guitar with Reverend Gary Davis. His
career launched with the founding of Theocratic Records in 1983. Over three
decades, he produced more than 200 albums, collaborated with Ernest Ranglin,
