Jack McDuff

Born Eugene McDuff on September 17,1926, in Champaign, Illinois, the jazz organist and bandleader was better known as Jack McDuff aka Brother Jack McDuff and Captain Jack McDuff. He was known for his soulful and bluesy style which graced many albums in the 1960s: his own albums as a bandleader and in collaboration with other artists such as Willis Jackson and George Benson. Influenced by organ master Jimmy Smith and pianist Fats Waller, he had lengthy recording contracts with top labels including Prestige Records and Blue Note Records.
