Iyo Matsumoto (松本伊代), born on 21 June 1965 in Ōta, Tokyo, Japan, began her career as a Japanese idol singer and actress in the early 1980s. She debuted alongside two dancers and chorus members who later formed the duos Captain and Be-2, releasing her first single, "Sentimental Journey", in October 1981 on the major label Victor Entertainment, followed by a string of early hits such as "Love Me Tender" (February 1982) and "TV no Kuni Kara Kirakira" (May 1982).
