Born on February 27, 1983 in Azilal, a town in central Morocco, Issam Kamal quickly turned to music, founding his first group, Mazagan, at the age of 15. Originating in chaâbi-groove, a mix between Moroccan folk songs and the more globalized approaches of rock, the group gradually made its mark on the national music scene, first offering covers and then unveiling its own compositions in 2005 with the album La tradition qui coule.
