Ismo Alanko is a pioneering Finnish musician whose career began with the band
Sight, placing in the 1976 Finnish Rock Championship. He gained national fame in
1980 after winning the championship with the new wave group Hassisen Kone, which
produced the influential albums Täältä tullaan Venäjä (1980), Rumat sävelet
(1981), and Harsoinen teräs (1982). Following their split, Alanko co-founded the
experimental rock band Sielun Veljet, releasing several studio albums before
