Interpol
Interpol formed in New York City in 1997 after guitarist Daniel Kessler began
working with drummer Greg Drudy and recruited bassist Carlos Dengler and
singer-guitarist Paul Banks. Following the early EP Fukd I.D. #3, Drudy departed
in 2000 and was replaced by Sam Fogarino. The group issued Precipitate in 2001
and recorded a session for BBC broadcaster John Peel before signing with Matador
Records. Interpol’s debut album, Turn On the Bright Lights, arrived in 2002 and
established their stark post-punk sound through songs including “PDA,” “Obstacle
