(Hiroshi Uchiyamada and Cool Five)
Hiroshi Uchiyamada and Cool Five, a Japanese kayōkyoku group (the precursor to
J-pop), were formed in 1967 by Hiroshi Uchiyamada. The band featured lead
vocalist Kiyoshi Maekawa, Masaki Kobayashi on bass guitar, Etsuro Miyamoto on
keyboards and piano, Shigemi Iwaki on saxophone and flute, and Shigeru Morimoto
on drums. They debuted in 1969 with the hit single "Nagasaki wa Kyou mo Ame
datta", which won the Eleventh Japan Record Award. The group enjoyed significant
success throughout the first half of the 1970s, releasing numerous hit singles
such as "Awazu ni Aishite", "Uwasa no O...
