Herb Pomeroy was an American jazz trumpeter and educator born in the United
States in 1930. Irving Herbert Pomeroy III studied at the Schillinger House
between 1950 and 1952. They performed with musicians including Charlie Parker,
Lionel Hampton, and Stan Kenton before established their own big bands in the
late 1950s. In 1963, Pomeroy founded the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble, which they
directed for 22 years and led on tours across the United States and Europe.
