Harry Babbitt, born November 2, 1913, in St. Louis, Missouri, was an American
singer and star during the Big Band era. After leading a school band and
performing locally, he joined Kay Kyser’s orchestra in winter 1936. With the
band he recorded hits such as "Three Little Fishies", "On a Slow Boat to China",
and the cover of "The White Cliffs of Dover", which became his biggest success.
He served in the Navy from 1944‑46, then returned to the orchestra until leaving
in 1949. Babbitt hosted CBS’s The Second Cup of Coffee Club and NBC’s Glamour
