Gwen Dickey was born on 1 December 1953 in the United States of America and
emerged as a vocalist in the R&B and disco scenes. Her breakthrough came in 1976
when she led the hit single “Car Wash” with Rose Royce, reaching Number 1 on the
US Billboard Hot 100. The following year she recorded “Wishing on a Star” and
continued to record with the group on albums such as Car Wash (1976), In Full
Bloom (1977), Strikes Again (1978), and Rainbow Connection IV(1979). In 1980
