Guðrið Hansdóttir
Guðrið Hansdóttir, born October 6, 1980, in Argir, is a Faroese pop, folk, and
electropop singer, songwriter, and composer. The daughter of guitarist Hans Carl
Hansen, Hansdóttir began playing guitar at age 14. Hansdóttir released the debut
album Love is Dead in 2007 and won the Planet Award for Best Female Singer. Her
second album, The Sky is Opening (2009), was awarded Album of the Year.
Following Beyond the Grey (2011), Hansdóttir moved to Reykjavík and formed the
duo Byrta with Janus Rasmussen, releasing the album BYRTA in 2013. Hansdóttir’s
