Guaco, a Venezuelan band, was formed in Maracaibo in 1962 by Mario Viloria,
Alfonso "Pompo" Aguado, and Fernando Domínguez. Initially known as Conjunto
Gaitero Estudiantil Los Guacos del Zulia, the group began as a traditional gaita
zuliana ensemble but soon incorporated elements of salsa, pop, jazz, funk, rock
and roll, and vallenato into their music. Their first production was recorded in
