God was an Australian punk rock band from Melbourne established in 1986. The ensemble was founded by Sean Greenway, Tim Hemensley, Joel Silbersher, and Matthew Whittle, all of whom were between 15 and 16 years of age. Their recording career began with the debut single “My Pal” (1988), which was written by Silbersher and reached professional recognition as the third-highest selling alternative single of the year. The ensemble subsequently released the extended play Rock Is Hell (1988) followed by its debut studio recording For Lovers Only (1989) through the label Au Go Go Records....
