George Baker
Johannes Bouwens, known professionally as George Baker, was born on December 8,
1944, in Hoorn, Netherlands. Raised by his mother and grandparents, Bouwens
began his musical journey at a young age, singing and playing guitar in a school
band called The Jokers. In 1961, he adopted the stage name "Body" and formed
Body and the Wild Cats. His breakthrough came in 1968 when he joined Soul
Invention, which later transformed into George Baker Selection. With this band,
