Gene Sedric
Eugene Hall Sedric, known professionally as Gene Sedric, and born on June 17,
1907, in St. Louis, Missouri, was a jazz clarinetist and tenor saxophonist. His
father's ragtime piano playing influenced his early musical interests. Sedric
began his career with Charlie Creath before joining Fate Marable's band and
touring Europe with Sam Wooding’s Orchestra from 1925 to 1931. He then played
with Fletcher Henderson, Alex Hill, and Fats Waller’s Rhythm from 1934 to 1942.
