Luke Gawne, professionally known as GAWNE, is an American rapper, singer, and
songwriter. Born March 12, 1997, in Oak Park, Illinois, he suffered a brain
injury at age 15 that disrupted his education for two and a half years, leading
him to take up rapping as a coping mechanism. He graduated from Oak Park and
River Forest High School in 2014 and later graduated from the University of
Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His music career gained momentum in 2017 after
resolving a restrictive record contract that he signed at age 18, which required
