Fumiya Fujii is a Japanese solo artist who launched his career with The
Checkers, one of the country's most successful rock & roll acts during the
1980s. He was born on July 11, 1962, in Kurume, Japan. After performing in a
local band as a high school student, he followed his father's lead by taking a
job with the Japanese National Railways, ultimately quitting that job in 1983 to
