Frank Valentino was an American operatic baritone born in the United States in
1907. Francis Valentine Dinhaupt began musical studies in Denver and made a
professional debut in Italy in 1927. They performed at venues including La Scala
and Glyndebourne before joining the Metropolitan Opera in 1940. Valentino
performed in 26 roles over 21 seasons, including the lead in Lucia di Lammermoor
(1940) and La bohème (1946) under the direction of Arturo Toscanini. Their
discography includes recordings of La bohème (1946) and La traviata (1955).
