Singer-songwriter Jean-Louis Mougeot, aka François Valéry, was born on August 4, 1954 in Oran, Algeria. Jean-Louis Mougeot studied guitar and music theory at the Conservatoire before going on to study music at the University of Marseille. At the age of twenty, he met Mike Brant's agent, and took his pseudonym in reference to the two candidates in the 1974 presidential election, François Mitterrand and Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. He released his first single on the Disc'AZ label, "Une Chanson d'Été ", the same year, and his first video clip was shown on television. Une Chanson d'Été...
