Floris Nico Bunink
Floris Nico Bunink, born on April 22, 1936, in Amsterdam, is a Dutch pianist. He
and his quartet reached the finale of the Jazzwettbewerb competition in 1955. In
1956, he moved to Paris and collaborated with musicians like Lucky Thompson and
Barney Wilen. His career took him to North America in 1959, where he
participated in the Lenox School of Jazz and joined Charles Mingus' Oktett and
Tentett, contributing to Mingus Dynasty. He performed with notable artists
including Lee Konitz, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, Lester Young, Zoot Sims,
Chet Baker, and the Montgomery Brothers....
