Expendables
Expendables was a New Zealand band from Christchurch active during the 1980s.
Fronted by singer-songwriter and guitarist Jay Clarkson, the group developed
from her earlier bands, They Were Expendable and The Playthings. They released a
single and the album Expendables in 1984 on Flying Nun Records. Clarkson was
joined by bassist Michael Kime and drummer Robert Key, later replaced by Chris
Matthews, with Anthony Nevison joining as an additional guitarist. The band
disbanded by the end of 1985. In 1986, Clarkson formed Breathing Cage with Kime
and other musicians.
