Italian-American author, singer, and producer Ernest Peter Maresca, known
professionally as Ernie Maresca, was born on 21 August 1938 in the Bronx, New
York. He began his music career as a songwriter and singer. In 1957, he formed
the doo-wop group The Montarays, who later changed their name to The Desires
after signing with Seville Records. His breakthrough came when Dion DiMucci
discovered his demo of "No One Knows" at a New Jersey pool hall. This led to a
