Blues rock guitarist, singer and composer Eric Johanson was born in Alexandria,
Louisiana. In 2001, he joined the alternative rock band Cire, which moved to New
Zealand after the trauma of Hurricane Katrina, then split up after a third
album. In the meantime, Eric Johanson took the pseudonym Emptyself and released
an electronically-inflected album of the same name in 2005, followed by Nothing
Follows, Nothing Says in 2011. The guitarist returned under his own name in 2017
with Burn It Down, produced by Tab Benoit and released on Whiseky Bayou Records.
