Enrique Morente Cotelo, born on December 25, 1942, in Granada, Spain, was a
flamenco singer known for his innovative approach to traditional flamenco music.
He began singing as a child and learned the art from family gatherings and local
figures like Cobitos and Aurelio Sellés. In his teens, Morente moved to Madrid
to start his professional career, performing at peñas flamencas and signing with
the Ballet de Marienma in 1964. He released Cante flamenca (1967) with guitarist
