Elvis Phương, born Phạm Ngọc Phương on February 1, 1945, in Thủ Dầu Một, was a
Vietnamese singer who spent his youth in Saigon. He became a popular performer
in South Vietnam before the fall of Saigon in 1975, which led to his departure
from the country. In the 1990s, Elvis Phương began returning to Vietnam
regularly and regained popularity as a singer. His notable albums include Niệm
Khúc Cuối (1984), Đêm Say (1995), and Em Cứ Đi (1995). Some controversy arose
within Vietnamese refugee communities overseas, who were initially critical of
his decision to perform in Vietnam.
