Buenos Aires–born singer and songwriter Gaby Díaz, known as El Tecla, came up
through Argentina’s cumbia scene in the 2000s and crystallized his solo profile
with the 2009 debut album Único en Su Especie, whose staples include “Mírame a
la Cara,” “Te Amo,” and breakout favorite “A Chillar a Otra Parte,” also picked
up on the Parada Tropical, Volumen 2 compilation from that era. After steady
regional touring, he issued the follow-up Aquel Que Había Muerto in 2016,
foregrounding the ballad-leaning “Si la Ves.” A return to broader activity
arrived with El Regreso (Volumen 1) in 2021...
