Jorge Emilio Pardo Vásquez, known as El León Pardo, was born on December 20,
1988, in Tunja, Colombia. Raised in Cartagena, he began playing the kuisi at age
eight and later inherited a saxophone from his grandfather, a renowned Colombian
musician. After losing the saxophone, he turned to trumpet in school bands and
deepened his connection to traditional kuisi bunsi. As a teenager, he studied
Caribbean rhythms and moved to Bucaramanga for symphonic studies but left to
join Velandia y La Tigra. Later, he launched his solo career with Cumbia Ácida.
