El Charrito Negro
Johan Gabriel González, known professionally as El Charrito Negro, was born on
February 15, 1962, in Ceilán, Bugalagrande, Valle del Cauca Department,
Colombia. He gained initial recognition at age 16 by winning a contest organized
by an emisora in Caicedonia, Valle del Cauca. This led to his first single
"Maldito dinero" under the name El Charrito Negro with Gardenia Records in 1988.
His breakthrough came with the album Llorando por ella (1990) and the song "El
