Richard Graham Sarstedt, known professionally as Eden Kane, was born on 29 March
1940 in New Delhi, British India. He gained prominence as a teen idol in the
early 1960s. Inspired by Bill Haley, he learned guitar and formed his first
band, the skiffle group Fabulous 5, which featured his younger brothers Peter
and Clive Sarstedt. He was awarded a contract to sing an advertising jingle for
Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate after entering a talent contest at the Classic
