Isidore Itzkowitz, also known as Eddie Cantor, born on January 31, 1892, in New
York City, was an American songwriter, singer, comedian, and actor. He began
performing in local theaters during his teenage years. His breakthrough came
with Gus Edward's Kid Kabaret (1912), which led him to roles in Florenz
Ziegfeld’s Midnight Frolic (1916) and the Ziegfeld Follies from 1917 to 1927.
