Eberhard Hertel, born in Germany, was a German singer primarily known for
traditional folk music. Initially aspiring to be a farmer, Hertel's career took
a turn when he discovered his passion for singing local German folk songs. His
musical journey began in 1976 at the talent contest Heitere Premiere. In the
1970s, he gained prominence performing with Hannelore Kalin as a yodeling duo.
Hertel's breakthrough came with his rendition of "Der Vugelbeerbaam" (1984)
