E was a Czech experimental rock band from Brno, Czechoslovakia, active between
1984 and 1997. The group consisted of Vladimír Kokolia on vocals and percussion,
Josef Ostřanský on guitar and percussion, and Vladimír Václavek on bass and
guitar. Kokolia is known as a painter and graphic artist. Their sound featured
interlocking riffs and sophisticated cross-rhythms accompanied by existentialist
lyrics. Both guitarists used simple drum kits and played simultaneously while
Kokolia operated an electronic percussion rug. The band released the albums E
/Live/ (1990) and I Adore Nothing ...
