Donald Tai Loy Ho, known professionally as Don Ho, was born on August 13, 1930,
in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a singer of native Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese,
Dutch, and German descent. After graduating from Kamehameha Schools in 1949 and
earning a degree in sociology from the University of Hawaii in 1953, he joined
the U.S. Air Force in 1954. While stationed at Travis Air Force Base, he
purchased an electronic keyboard, marking the beginning of his musical journey.
