Little known as a solo artist, Don Felder, born in Gainesville, Florida, on
September 21, 1947, is the principal composer of one of rock and pop's
best-known songs. The rising arpeggios of Eagles'"Hotel California" are his. In
fact, it was Don Felder, who joined Eagles in 1974, who suggested the song to
the band in the form of an instrumental dubbed "Mexican Reggae". Selling
