Harvey William Bassett, known professionally as DJ Harvey, was born in 1961 and
is an English DJ. He began his music career at age 13 as a drummer for the
Cambridge punk band Ersatz, which released the single "Smile in Shadow" on their
indie label Leisure Sounds. In 1985, inspired by the emerging hip-hop movement
during a trip to New York City, Bassett started DJing and formed the group TDK
(Tone Deaf Crew). He launched his weekly night "Moist" at the Gardening Club in
