Dimitris Basis is a Greek singer in the Laïko tradition and, with two decades of records behind him, a mainstay in the Greek music world. Basis was born in Stuttgart to immigrant Greek parents and spent the early years of his life there before moving back to a remote Grecian village. At the age of nine he began singing at the local church and at 12 started taking formal music lessons.
