Die Krupps is a German industrial metal and electronic body music band formed in
1980 in Düsseldorf by Jürgen Engler, Ralf Dörper, and Bernward Malaka. Their
debut album, Stahlwerksynfonie (1981), blended industrial noises with metallic
percussion. In 1982, the group released Volle Kraft voraus!, which showcased a
more synthesizer-based sound. Their first English-language material appeared on
the album Entering the Arena (1985). In 1989, Dörper and Engler collaborated
with Nitzer Ebb on the single “Machineries of Joy”, which led to the
