David Parry, born on March 23, 1949, is an English conductor known for his work
in opera. He studied at Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music in
London. His conducting career began under Audrey Langford, leading to his debut
with La traviata. Parry served on the conducting staffs of Dortmund Opera, Opera
North, and Glyndebourne before he became Music Director of English Touring Opera
from 1983 to 1987. He is noted for his recordings with Chandos Records and Opera
