Dark Angel
American thrash metal band Dark Angel was formed in Downey, California in 1981
by founding guitarist Jim Durkin, drummer Gene Hoglan, bassist Mike Gonzalez and
vocalist Don Doty. The group began with demos such as Gonna Burn (1983) and
Demo II (1983), establishing a local underground presence before releasing their
debut studio album We Have Arrived in March 1985. The album was followed by
Darkness Descends (November 1986), which is regarded as an important release of
the era, and Leave Scars (January 1989), the only Dark Angel record to enter the
