Danny D'Imperio, born in 1945 in Sydney, New York, is an American jazz drummer
and bandleader. He initially played piano and trumpet before switching to drums
under the influence of Louie Bellson, and had his first professional
performances at age twelve in his father Robert D'Imperio’s band. From 1957 to
1962, he played in local bands in Syracuse, New York, including groups led by
Pee Wee Hunt and the Salt City Six. During his military service from 1965 to
