Dan Spătaru, born Dan George Spătaru on October 2, 1939, in Aliman, was a Romanian pop singer. He began his career as a footballer but transitioned to music after an injury. In 1962, he started performing at Casa Studenților, gaining attention with his renditions of Italian-style songs. His breakthrough came in 1966 when he performed with Pompilia Stoian on television, catching the attention of composer Camelia Dăscălescu, who mentored Spătaru and composed his first songs.
