René Moses Swain, known professionally as Da Germ, was born in 1969 in Odenwald,
Germany, and is a German Rapper. Raised in Frankfurt by a German mother and an
American father, Swain grew up facing discrimination as an Afro-German. At 18,
he made his debut as a rapper but was booed off stage. In 1988, after a stint in
the USA, Swain worked with Sven Väth on the project Mosaic under the name Zyon
and released his first hip-hop record under the name Al Rakhun. Returning to
Frankfurt from 1993 to 1996, he released the Spirit of Attitude (1993) EP and
