Concerto Palatino is a wind ensemble established in the early 13th century in
Bologna. Originally consisting of eight trumpeters, the group expanded in the
15th century to include trombones. Between 1537 and 1779, the ensemble utilized
a lineup of trumpets, cornetts, trombones, and violas. The group performed a
repertoire of sacred music. In 1986, cornettist Bruce Dickey and trombonist
Charles Toet revived the ensemble for historical performance practice. Its
