Cindy Ellis
Evelyn Asal, known professionally as Cindy Ellis, was born on 14 July 1926 in
London to an English father and German mother and later moved with her mother to
Frankfurt at age two. She began violin and piano lessons as a child and studied
harp at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt before switching to vocal training as a
contralto. Her first recording breakthrough came in 1959 when producer Bert
Kaempfert signed her to Polydor, releasing the single "Fieber" and the EP Denkst
du noch an mich?, which featured the title track "Denkst du noch an mich?".
