Roberto Mario Gómez Bolaños—affectionately known as Chespirito—was born in
Mexico City on February 21, 1929, and initially pursued mechanical engineering
while writing for radio and television in the 1950s and 1960s before breaking
out with Los Supergenios de la Mesa Cuadrada (1968), where he introduced beloved
